10 things you should know:

1. I am an introvert, mostly, but I do love people, especially hosting couch surfers and friends alike.

2. Food is my native language, and the kitchen is both my sanctuary and my office.

3. I need the sun to survive.

4. I love my dog. He is a beautiful vizsla named Jupiter.

5. My accent, while based in Northern California, flickers with sounds and words from New England, Berlin, Ostfriesland and West Cork, all places I have called home. My dog's vet said my accent is fetching, which was flattering, but I wouldn't know anything about that.

6. I am also a musician, but that's a whole other website and for a different time.

7. I don't wear red-framed glasses, though I illustrate myself that way and have been thinking about getting some just to not feel left out.

8. Space science fascinates me beyond reason but I don't get to talk much about it.

9. My MA work interpreted the modern industrial food complex as an oppressive system in which we are all more or less trapped; my politics lie in understanding the world through the lens of uneven power relationships. And now you know.
